Arthur Dennis Rounsavall

Funeral services for Arthur Dennis Rounsavall, age 67 of New Harmony, Texas, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the New Harmony Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Webb and Bro. Robbie Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow at the New Harmony Cemetery. Dennis passed away Monday, August 23, 2021, in Tyler, Texas. He was born July 14, 1954, in Brownsboro, Texas to the late William Arthur and Evelyn June (Fipps) Rounsavall. Dennis has lived in New Harmony for close to 50 years where he was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church and in his younger years enjoyed playing for the church softball team. He enjoyed it so much that he played in a game on his wedding day. Despite that, his loving wife, Debra, still married him and stayed by his side for 43 years. Together they had a son, Cody Rounsavall, and a daughter, Jennifer Palacios. Dennis worked and retired from Trane after 41 years of service. He began his career there when he was 19 years old and his job was to sweep the floors. At the time of his retirement he worked in the warehouse repair. He was a hard worker and always taught his children the importance of being on time and doing their best. Dennis raised cattle his entire life and was known in the New Harmony Community as the person to call when you needed help. When he retired, the local vet joked that he was glad the community now had a full time vet. It didn't matter if it was a sick cow or a problem with a tractor, everyone knew they could call Dennis. He enjoyed having a garden, sharing his produce with others in the community, and watching his grandchildren run up and down the rows playing tag. He loved to go hunting and fishing anytime he could. Dennis made several trips to South Texas hunting with his son, Cody, brother, Danny Rounsavall, and nephew, Danny Kyle Rounsavall. He fished everywhere - from his own pond, local lakes, and Lake of the Woods in Kenora, Canada. Since his retirement, he had even been known to put off a chore or two just because the weather was too nice not to fish. Dennis could almost always be found with his best friend and cousin, Richard Rounsavall. They were more like brothers than cousins. If they weren't baling hay, working cows, fishing, or working on a tractor, you'd probably find them sitting on the porch or under the tree in the yard. Together, they had an uncanny resemblance to the old men in the movie "Secondhand Lions". Dennis was known for his serious expression, but family and friends also knew of his mischievous smile. He enjoyed playing tricks and he loved to see his daughter get worked up over whatever stunt he talked the grandsons into doing. His smoked brisket was legendary. Anytime he cooked for a get-together, you could guarantee everyone left talking about how good the food was. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, William Arthur and Evelyn June Rounsavall, and his brother, Dickie Rounsavall. Dennis is survived by his wife, Debra Rounsavall of New Harmony; children, Cody Rounsavall and wife, Kevyn of New Harmony, Jennifer Palacios and husband, Jose of Tyler; brothers, David Rounsavall of Corsicana and Danny Rounsavall of LaRue; cousin, Richard Rounsavall of New Harmony; grandchildren, Jessie, Wyatt, and Baley Rounsavall, Jordan, Jacob, and Joshua Palacios or "the boys" as he would affectionately refer to them; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members and friends. Pallbearers will include Tim England, Don Ferrell, Gary Gilmore, Philip Lee, Dustin Rounsavall, and Robert Rounsavall. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas.
