Judge Billie Garrett

A graveside service for Judge Billie Garrett, age 87 of Lindale, Texas, is scheduled for 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the Mt. Sylvan Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Fancher officiating. Services are under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas. Billie left to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 22, 2021 at her residence in Lindale, Texas. She was born in Comanche, Texas on November 21, 1933 to the late William and Hazel (Walker) Barker. Billie was a longtime resident of Lindale, Texas and was a member of the Lindale Church of Christ, Lindale Rotary Club, and The Red Hat Society. Billie was the matriarch to her large family and dedicated her life to raising her girls. Her favorite days were spent with her girls around her, sharing daily life over a cup of coffee and telling her favorite memories of Pop, her mother Hazel, and time spent with her granddaddy on his farm. Her years serving as Smith County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5, were one of the highlights of her life. She always enjoyed reminiscing about those good old days. Billie dearly loved her church family and card days with the ladies, and spending time with her best friend and sister in Christ Coralee McClenny. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Ernest Eugene Norris in 1974 and Charles Garrett in 2006, 5 brothers and stepson, Ronny Norris. She is survived by her children, Linda McClenny and husband, Allen of Hideaway; Gary Chumley and wife, Kim of Gatesville; Sharon Walker and husband, Corey of Maybank; Melissa Rice and husband, Raymond of Lipan; Deborah Adams and husband, Chet of Lindale; Denise Mallory and husband, Russell of Lindale; Brenda Yancy and husband, Richard of Tyler; Kathleen Sims and husband, Greg of Lindale; Joni Leonard and husband, Buzz of Topeka, Kansas; Lynda Byrum and husband, Ronnie of Lindale; Sandy Bateman and husband, Larry of Lindale; 26 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Ryan Mallory, Joel Rice, Tyler Rice, Kole McClenny, Adam McClenny, Zach Chumley, Zane Chumley, Casey Adams, and Dylan Sims. The family would like to thank Caring Hearts Hospice for the love and care they provided.
