Anita Charlene Powell

Funeral services for Charlene Powell are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Pastor Michael Mize officiating. Interment will follow at Damascus Cemetery in Lindale. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Charlene passed away in Mineola, Texas, where she had spent the last few years living at Lake Holbrook. She was born August 20, 1949, in Texas to the late Charlie Warren Hicks and Hazel Juanita (Davis) Hicks. She moved to Lindale, Texas, with her family when she was young, and she called it home for most of her life. Charlene graduated from Lindale High School before attending business school, and went on to work as a bookkeeper at a local bank. She later worked as a teacher’s aide at Lindale Elementary School. In the early years of her life, Charlene dedicated her life to her family as a stay-at-home mother. She had a deep love for gardening and took pride in canning vegetables and jellies. As the years went on, she found joy in creative hobbies such as painting, crocheting, and reading. A lifelong fan of westerns, Charlene especially enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and horseback riding whenever she had the chance. Charlene is survived by her husband, JC Powell; daughter, Jill Boykin, and her husband, Scott Boykin; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Powell; granddaughters, Sarah Boykin and her fiancé, Luis Gonzalez, and Jeorgia Powell; grandsons, Chance Powell and his wife, Jordan Powell, Jace Boykin, and Jonathan Charlie Powell; great-granddaughter, Leighton Powell; and great-grandson, Crew Powell, and numerous other loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Charlie Warren Hicks; mother, Hazel Juanita Hicks; and her beloved son, Jason Charles Powell. Serving as pallbearers will be: Scott Ellison, Scotty Powell, Brian Crowley, James Hicks, Tommy Dingler, and Cassidy Kirkpatrick. Honorary pallbearers will be: Mark Douglas and Tony Powell. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that contributions be made to Hospice of East Texas or the Damascus Cemetery Association, PO Box 474, Lindale, Tx 75771.
