Ardene Sarah Boven Anderson

Ardene was born in Reeman, Michigan on December 14, 1918 and went to be with the Lord on September 26, 2006. She died peacefully after a long decline from Alzheimer's. Her parents were Peter and Jenny Boven of Holland, Michigan. Ardene attended Christian Reform Grade School and High School and graduated from Hope College with a BS degree in Education. She taught school in Grand Rapids and that is where she met her husband, Lawrence W. "Larry" Anderson. He was practicing law in Grand Rapids while waiting to go to Midshipman's School. They were married on June 27, 1942. After her husband's service in the U. S. Navy, they moved to Dallas, Texas. In their retirement years, Ardene and her husband moved to their lake home at Hideaway, Texas. In Dallas, Ardene was a member of Dallas Women's Club, President of Dallas Lawyer's Wives Club, Preston Hollow Country Club, Dallas Symphony League (a Loge Contributor), Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, Dallas Opera, Dallas Little Theatre, Helen Scruggs Garden Club, Helen Poe Club and many other organizations. Ardene was a charter member of the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Churc h were she served as an Elder and taught Sunday School. She was also a charter member of the Churchill Way Presbyterian Church and served there as the President of the Women of the Church. At Hideaway, she was active in the Hideaway Book Review Club, Three Lakes Garden Club, and the Hideaway Ballroom Dancing Club. In Tyler, Texas, she was a member of PEO, Tyler Civic Theatre, East Texas Symphony, East Texas Opera, Tyler Petroleum Club, and Tyler Women's Forum. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tyler, the First United Methodist Church of Lindale and at her death she was a member of the Hideaway Lake Community Church. She and her husband traveled extensively over the world and visited many countries. They were in one of the first groups to visit China and Russia. She and her husband were on the travel committee of the Ex-students' Association of the University of Texas. They were also delegates on two occasions to foreign cities for World Peace Through Law. Ardene will be greatly missed by her husband of 64 years, her daughter, Constance Bartley and husband, Michael; her son, Lawrence W. Anderson, Jr. and his wife, Anita; and her daughter Carol Black and her husband, Paul; 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother and his wife, Stanley and Betty Boven of Holland, Michigan and a sister, Phyllis Agnew of Vero Beach, Florida. A very special feeling of gratitude is expressed toward her two Caregivers, Margaret Andrews and Melissa Black. With their devoted attention, Ardene was able to be cared for at home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be sent to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Texas 75701. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 29, 2006 in the Hideaway Lake Community Church with Dr. Don Anderson and Bro. Les Stine officiating. Additional Memorial Services are scheduled for 3:30 P.M. Monday October 16, 2006 in the Restland Wildwood Chapel iin Dallas with interment to follow.
