Audrey Jean Cannon

Audrey Jean Cannon, 86, of Tyler, passed away in Tyler, Texas on June 7, 2016. Jean was born in Lindale, Texas on August 18, 1929, to Jewel and Clyde Gilbert. She attended Lindale High School, Tyler Junior College, and North Texas State University. Jean was a retired secretary and book keeper and enjoyed many activities including making porcelain dolls and creating beautiful hand painted china. She was a faithful member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church where she attended the Grace Sunday School Class and participated in the Sanctuary Choir and Silver Notes Choir. She was also actively involved in the East Texas Porcelain Art Guild, Tyler Doll Club, and Tyler Doll Makers Club. Jean absolutely loved God, her family and her friends. She dearly loved all people. Her days were always brighter when anyone came to visit her, especially her “he's still my sweetheart” husband, Earl, and her “little sweethearts”, great-grandchildren, Bryan and Lily. She is survived by her loving husband, Cecil Earl Cannon, Jr.; daughters, Lynda Cannon Meadows and Teresa Cannon; grandson, Christopher Meadows and wife, Rebecca; greatgrandchildren, Bryan Christopher Meadows and Lily Marie Meadows; sister-in-law, Betty Gilbert; nephews and wives, James and Rhonda Gilbert, Jeff and Cathy Gilbert, and Suzy Gilbert Barnett; and loving family and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Clyde and Jewel Gilbert; brother Jack Aubrey Gilbert; grandson, Charles Bryan Meadows; son-in-law, Charles F. Meadows, Jr. Special thanks to family and friends, staff at The Heights of Tyler nursing home, and staff at The Hospice of East Texas. Visitation with the family will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Robert Carter and Dr. John H. Beard officiating. There will be a private family burial at Lindale City Cemetery.
