Blanche Newton

Blanche Newton, age 96, of New Harmony went to be with her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, March 18, 2011. She was born on May 12, 1914. She married Jodie Newton on December 24, 1933 and was married 57 years. Her childhood years were spent in Gresham with parents Frank & Ethel Moore, three sisters and one brother. She moved from Gresham to New Harmony when she became Jodie's wife. She was the oldest living member of New Harmony Baptist Church. Throughout her life she was active in every aspect of church service including teaching Sunday School and Women's Ministry. After she could no longer attend services, she continued with her personal daily Bible reading and Sunday School lessons. She loved sewing, quilting, and cooking large meals for her family. She was a gifted oil painter. The joy of her life was to love and help raise four generations of children. Most of all, she loved the Lord with all her heart and lived out her Christian example for generations to all who knew her. She was the much-loved cornerstone of her entire family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jodie Newton, her parents Frank & Ethel Moore, sister, Evelyn Malone, and brother, Frank Moore Jr. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Shirley & Joe Staples, son and daughter-in-law, Bill & Susan Newton, grandchildren and spouses, Beverly and Johnny Ray, Jill & Danny Kirkpatrick, Clint and Polly Staples, Sarah and Aaron Pritchard, and Matt Newton, great grandchildren, Jana Glosson, Melody Rucker, Bethany Starks, Shawn Kirkpatrick, Kylie Kirkpatrick, Colin Kirkpatrick, Hannah Staples, Ross Staples, and six great -great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Hope Shelton and Pauline Oglesby. Her family rejoices that she is safe in the arms of Jesus Our Thanks to the wonderful people who cared for our Mon over the past few years, Cindy Bockhold, Fairy Kaufman, Barbara Metcalf and Shelly Alexander. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2PM on Sunday, march 20, 2011 in the New harmony Baptist Church with Revs. Johnny Ray & Robbie Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in the New Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale. Pallbearers will be Larry Glosson, Ramsey Starks, T.J. Rucker, Matt Newton, Aaron Pritchard, Clint Staples, & Richard Rounsavall. Family will receive friends from 6PM to 8PM Saturday evening at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home.
