Charles Ray Garrett

Services for Mr. Charles Ray Garrett, age 72, of Lindale are scheduled for 2:30 P.M. Sunday, December 10, 2006 in the Lindale Church of Christ with Brother Wayne Fancher and Brother Dan Shipley officiating. Interment will follow in the Lindale City Cemetery under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale. Mr. Garrett died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 in a Tyler hospital. He was born September 1, 1934 in Ennis, Texas to Lawton and Inez Morman Garrett and lived the majority of his life in Lindale. Mr. Garrett was a member of the Lindale Church of Christ and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Air Force. While serving with the Air Force for 15 years, Charles served with the Tactical Air Command and received the Small Arms Marksmanship Expert Medal and the Fidelity Efficiency Honor Medal. He was also a graduate of Lindale High School. Mr. Garrett was a former Fire Chief for the Lindale Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Lindale City Council for 7 years. He was a former employee of the Forestry Service, General Manager for Allen's Tire Company and currently employed by the P. & O. Motor Company in Lindale. While with the Forestry Service, he received a certificate of appreciation for developing news stories about the Forestry Service personnel and activities. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sons, Michael Garrett and Tony Garrett and by a Brother, Billy Garrett. Mr. Garrett is survived by his Wife, Mrs. Billie Garrett of Lindale; 7 Daughters & Sons-in-law, Joni & Buzz Leonard of Lansing, Kansas, Lisa and Raymond Rice of Lipan, Texas, Kathleen Norris of Tyler, Deborah and Chet Adams, Denise and Russell Mallory of Lindale, Brenda Norris of Lindale, and Linda and Allen McClenny of Lindale; Sister-in-law, Mrs. Betty Garrett of Lindale; and Numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Dustin Leonard, Toby Leonard, Brian Leonard, Ryan Mallory, Kole McClenny and Adam McClenny. Mr. Garrett will be greatly missed by his family, church family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday evening at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale. Memorials may be made to the East Texas Food Bank or the Texas Scottish Rite Hospitals for Children.
