“You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great.” Psalm 18:35 A memorial service for Charlie Anders, age 89 of Lindale, Texas, is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Rev. Kyle Nees officiating. Charles Ray Anders, 89, faithful husband, respected father, adored grandfather and kind friend to all, left his earthly home and passed into His Heavenly Father’s arms on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in Lindale. He was born December 27, 1934, in Stamford, Texas to the late Fay and Anna Larue (Weeks) Anders. Charlie has lived in Lindale the last 3 years and was previously of Lufkin, Texas and Victoria, Texas where he was a member of the First Baptist Church. He worked throughout his life as a Geophysical Consultant and retired from Teledyne Exploration after 27 years of service. Charlie, along with his life-long soulmate, Merle, enjoyed the outdoors, working in the yard, gardening, going on long walks, and spending time with family. But mostly Charlie “lived a quiet life, minding his own business, earning his own living” all the while showing his family and everyone who knew him, an example of goodness and faith in Jesus Christ. Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Fay Anders, John Earl Anders, J.L. Anders, Winford O’Dell Anders, and R.A. Anders. Charlie is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 68 years, Merle Anders of Lindale; sons, Ike Anders and wife, Karla of Lindale, and Ray Anders and wife, Susan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandchildren, Ryan Anders and wife, Heather, Danny Anders and wife, Samantha, Collin Anders and wife, Rebecca, Christopher Anders, Isaac Anders and wife, Andrea, and Rachel Bozeman; great grandchildren, Harper, Brinley, Esteban, Emanuel, Ezequiel, Wyatt, Weston, and Warner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends. Special appreciation for the kind care given by Kindful Hospice and the staff at Wesley House. Memorial donations may be made to Christ’s Kitchen in Victoria, Texas.
