Dorothy Ruth Hicks Munn

Services for Mrs. Dorothy Munn, age 80, of Lindale are scheduled for 10 AM on Thursday, August 14, 2008 in the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby McClenny & Sam Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in the Damascus Cemetery. Mrs. Munn died on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 in a Tyler Hospice Center. Dorothy was born in Lindale, Texas to Hubert & Gover Della Hicks on February 14, l928. She resided in and near Lindale her entire life. Dorothy and Albert Munn "Junior" married on June 7, 1947 and during their marriage spent many night playing 42 dominoes with her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie and Herman Gordon. They all shared many trips with much laughter and prankster tricks. After "Junior" died on September 27, l987, Dorothy moved to a house located between her son and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Jan, and her sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Kenneth. She loved sharing laughter around her dining room table and sitting on the porch with her relatives and friends and sharing time and conversation with her many cousins and her brother, Billy. Dorothy especially loved her grandchildren, Chad, Cayce Della, and Tim, and treasured her precious great grand daughter, Maci Kay. Recently, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Robert Johnson and loved the days that her special therapist, Sandra, visited her. Dorothy worked for many years at Cooperative Rose Garden, and loved her seasonal work alongside her sister, Glenda and friend, Anna. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Lindale and the Winsom Sunday School Class. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Munn "Junior" and her parents, Hubert & Gover Della Hicks. Dorothy is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Mickey & Jan Munn, of Lindale; daughter & son-in-law, Sandy & Robert Johnson of Tyler; brother, Billy Hicks & wife, Sue of Tyler; Glenda Black & husband, Kenneth of Lindale; Grandsons, Chad Munn of Lindale; Tim Munn & wife, Karen of Lindale; grand daughter, Cayce Della Holmes of Tyler; her very precious great grand daughter, Maci Kay Munn of Lindale, and her most treasured nieces & Nephews. The family of Dorothy Munn would like to thank Dr. Wendell Hand for his many years of personal devotion and professional care, to Dr. Plotkin for his expertise during the later years of her life, and to the staff of Hospice of East Texas for their compassionate care of Dorothy while she was there. Pallbearers: Tim, Munn, Chad Munn, Jacob Pruitt, Mark Hicks, Phil Hicks, Jimmy Don Hicks, Jackie Gordon, and Dennis Gordon Family will receive friends from 6PM to 8PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
