Funeral services for Hazel Leora Pittman Gibson Nantz, age 94 of Lindale, Texas, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Pastor David Attebury officiating. Family will receive friends after the service. A private interment will be held at Hopewell Cemetery in Lindale. Leora was born on June 14, 1930, to G.H. (Doc) and Lura Bartley Pittman and passed from this life on October 19, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband and father of her children J.T. Gibson, her grandson Jake Dixon, her great grandson Grey Momon, her brothers Riley and James Pittman, two sisters Bonnie Shank and Doris Massey, her parents and her daughter-in-law Kathy Gibson. She is survived by her two children Tommy Gibson and Sheila Dixon, husband Mark, four grandchildren Abby Warnick, husband Michael, Kelly Momon, husband Damon, John Gibson, wife Cindy, Jeff Atwood, wife Lesley, seven great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren, her sister Janelle Taylor and her companion for the last 22 years Vernon Lackey. Honorary pallbearers include, Jeff Atwood, John Gibson, Michael Warwick, Damon Momon, Monty Shank, and Louie Brown. Leora was a devoted wife and mother. She was a strong Christian Woman. She believed in hard work. She loved plants and taking care of them. Her backyard always looked like a garden. She loved antiques and her home was always a showplace. She played the piano by ear and never read music. She loved “Wheel of Fortune” and watching that each evening was a part of her day. She was an avid 42 player and loved to work crossword puzzles. She enjoyed travels with her siblings, shopping and searching for unique finds. Leora was always dressed to the nines. She never left home that she wasn’t put together and stylish. She was beautiful inside and out. She loved God, family, home and country. She taught us respect, honesty and hard work. She led by example and gave up personal wants to support her children’s needs. Mom has been a member of First Baptist Church, Lindale for the last 60 plus years. Before that she belonged to Hopewell Baptist Church. Until health issues prevented, she was faithful and rarely missed a service. More importantly her every day life supported her strong Christian beliefs. Until we meet again – your memory lives on. You will be missed and held in our hearts forever. Had we been able to pick our mother we could not have picked a better one. Rest in peace Mom. You did an excellent job. Donations may be made to Hopewell Cemetery Association.
