James Coffman

James Henry Coffman, 76 years old, passed away peacefully on January 15th 2023. He was a cherished father, grand-father, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many. James was born on November 24th 1946 in Big Spring, Texas and was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Juanita Coffman, and brothers Jacky Don, Clayton Merle, Clifton Earl & Wesley Carl. He was raised in Coahoma, Texas and was one of 9 children. James entered the United States Navy in 1963. His Naval career took him around the world as an aviation airplane mechanic and structural mechanic. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and was discharged honorably in 1967 with numerous education and training accreditations. James was intensely proud to have served with honor as part The Greatest Navy In The World. James earned a degree from Tarrant County College in 1977 in horticulture, where he also made the Dean’s list. He worked for Bell Helicopter for 32 years as a machinist retiring in 2006. Having an entrepreneurial spirit, he also opened a horticulture business for a time and a bail bond service. James developed a passion for golf and became quite proficient earning himself not only an exceptional reputation, but many triumphs and trophies. James was a devoted member of the Masonic Lodge for 33 years having served as Master of his lodge. James was a dedicated blood donor and gave often to Carter Blood Care. He was awarded the 10-gallon donor pin and wore it with pride on his signature Aggie hat. He moved to Hideaway, Texas in 2015 to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. James enjoyed golf, hunting, spending time with his grandchildren, reading books, watching westerns, listening to music and travelling. He was a man of faith, who trusted in his Lord as his savior. James leaves behind so many who love and adore him; David Coffman(son), his wife Brooke Coffman, grandson Eric Austin Henry, grandson Kelly James Coffman, and granddaughter Aubrey Elaine Coffman; Amanda Coffman Froebe (daughter) her husband, Todd and their two children, Langdon Todd & Fallon JeanAnn; Surviving siblings Rebecca Marie Norris, Michael Dalton Coffman, Leslie Wade Coffman, & Regina Colleen Swafford. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. James shared a special relationship with his nephew, Kyle James White that was a source of life-long joy. James’ family would like to thank Betty Hayes who lovingly and tenderly cared for him in his last days. Services will be held at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale, TX Monday, January 23rd at 2:00pm. Family will greet friends immediately following the service. Burial will take place on Tuesday morning, January 24th at 9:30 am with military honors at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
