John E. Cheatham

Funeral services for John E. Cheatham, age 76 of Lindale, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Bro. Bruce Rudd officiating. Interment is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the Central Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. John passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. He was born December 29, 1948 in Houston, Texas to the late Charles Dixon and Joan (Cheatham) Coen. He served his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam, returning to the Houston area where he met his best friend, Beth Loftus. They married and settled in the Central Texas area. John and Beth were faithful members of Keys Valley Baptist Church where they raised their two daughters to love the Lord. John retired from the Bell County Appraisal District as Deputy Chief Appraiser. After retirement, he and Beth spent much time traveling, riding his Harley Davidson, being involved with their church and gathering with neighborhood friends. He enjoyed every activity with Beth until her passing John relocated to the Lindale area in 2019 and found faith and church family at Mount Sylvain Baptist Church where he was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Outside of attending church, he enjoyed fellowships at Dairy Queen, Whataburger, and Cracker Barrell with his Sunday School friends. John is survived by daughters, Jennifer Galysh and husband, John of Lindale and Liz Johnson and husband, Willace of Lindale; sister, Jeanie Stewart of Rusk; brother Paul Cheatham and wife Cathy of Tyler; grandchildren, Ryder and Gunner Johnson and Sophia Galysh; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Elizabeth “Beth” Cheatham and brother, James Carl Cheatham. Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service and has asked that in lieu of flowers, consider memorial contributions be made to Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church. The family is very grateful to the special care provided by his caregivers over the past few years of his illness.
