Graveside services for John E. Tweedell, age 89 of Hideaway, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Damascus Cemetery in Lindale, Texas with Kent McMillan officiating and under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. John passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 in Tyler, Texas. He was born February 4, 1931 in Chickamauga, Tennessee to the late James and Dora (Broom) Tweedell. John served his country in the United States Air Force and later retired as an Air Traffic Controller after 25 years of service with the Federal Aviation Administration. After retirement John was the owner/operator of ATC Insurance Distributors in Dallas, Texas. He has lived in the Hideaway Lake Community for over 40 years where he was a member of the Hideaway Lake Community Church and also began the Computer Club in association with the Cedar Street Methodist Church, repairing donated computers for underprivileged children. John was also the Tea Party organizer at Hideaway Lake. He is preceded in death by daughter, Valerye Jean McMillan; granddaughter, Alyssa Nicole Tweedell; grandson, James Weller; and his beloved siblings. John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynne Tweedell of Hideaway, Texas; sons, Paul F. Allen III of Poetry, Texas, John E. Allen of Poetry, Texas, Kevin N. Tweedell and wife, Julie of Hideaway, Texas, John Tweedell Jr. and wife, Patti of Aledo, Texas; daughter, Traci Curtis of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Jordan Tweedell, Brooke Tweedell, Carolynne Weller, Jessica Allen, Andrew Tweedell, Sara Tweedell, Katy Ensminger, Savannah Allen, Jeremy McMillan, Jason McMillan, and Justin McMillan; 2 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. Myself, Lynne and the entire extended family would like to express our deepest heartfelt thank you to all our friends, acquaintances, and even strangers who have responded to our needs in our most difficult days. John and I both felt the peace and comfort that was lifted up on our behalf. God has richly blessed us especially in the last days of John’s life. Wednesday and Thursday John was the happiest and most calm that I was blessed to witness in years. Thank you all for enriching his life. We are blessed by the sacrifice that Jesus made so that I know today John is at rest in the Joy of Jesus. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2020 at Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. At the family’s request, mask is to worn to both the visitation and the graveside service as a Covid-19 precaution.
