Joyce Fay (Hitt) McClenny

The funeral services for Joyce Fay (Hitt) McClenny is scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Lindale Church of Christ in Lindale, Texas with Reagan McClenny and Larry McClenny officiating. Joyce McClenny and her very own twin sister, Jean Morman, were born on June 1, 1932, in Tyler, Texas to the late Alfred McCoy Hitt and Thema Ola (Stewart) Hitt, Bull, Davis. Joyce died Sunday, February 7, 2021 in Tyler, Texas. She was 88 years old. Joyce lived in the Hopewell Community and Lindale area all of her life. Joyce graduated from Tyler High School in 1949 and Tyler Junior College in 1950. Joyce married Eugene McClenny on July 7, 1950 in a double ceremony with her twin sister, Jean, and husband, Aubrey Morman. Joyce worked outside the home for a time at the Tyler Morning Telegraph before she decided to work inside the home after the birth of her first of six children. She spent the rest of life as a homemaker and mother (Ma) to her six children, thirteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Coylene Smith; her brothers-in-law, Aubrey Morman, Bob Cook, James McClenny, Bobby McClenny, Charles McClenny, and John Brown; and her sisters-in-law, Mary Ann McClenny, Rachel McClenny, and Betty Hilburn. Joyce is survived by her husband of 70 years and 7 months, Eugene V. McClenny; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Steve Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Victoria McClenny; son, Philip McClenny; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Linda McClenny; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Cristy McClenny; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Michelle McClenny. She is survived by thirteen grandchildren: Clint Foy, Tracy Harrold, Kole McClenny, Mark Foy, Karen Hutchinson, Adam McClenny, Scott Brown, Reagan McClenny, Kathryn Taylor, Thomas McClenny, Machaia McClenny, Dylan McClenny, and Leah McClenny as well as sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce is also survived by her identical twin sister, Jean Morman; sister-in-law, Elouise Cook; sister-in-law, Coralee McClenny; sister and brother-in-law, Sara Ann and Dan Hicks; sister-in-law Carolyn Brown; and sister and brother-in-law, Nita and Curtis Herring. Joyce was a faithful member of the Lindale church of Christ for her entire adult life where she taught young children’s classes and loved to sing spiritual songs. She loved her church family, and they loved her. Joyce had a great capacity to love all people and constantly had a positive outlook on life. She was a consummate encourager until the day she died. She will certainly be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Kole McClenny, Mark Foy, Adam McClenny, Scott Brown, Reagan McClenny, and Dylan McClenny. Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons Clint Foy and Thomas McClenny (Active Duty Navy). A special thanks to the staff of The Hamptons and Choice Hospice. Interment will follow at the Lindale City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
