Paul Sides

Paul Gerald Sides, 86, of Hideaway, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 3, 2015. A service honoring his life will be held at the New Harmony Baptist Church located at 10251 FM 724, Tyler, TX 75704 on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at 10:30 AM with Pastor Robbie Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in the New Harmony Baptist Church cemetery immediately following the service. Paul was born in Hillsboro, Texas on February 25, 1929 to Paul and Willie Stanford Sides. He grew up in Vaughn, Texas and then served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. Paul married Joann Johnson on April 4, 1953 in Hillsboro, Texas. Everyone who met them said they were the perfect match. Paul graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Economics. He continued to learn throughout his life and received a Life Office Management Association (LOMA) certification and a Certified Life Underwriters (CLU). He was employed as a senior officer at Southwestern Life Insurance Company and retired in 1984. He loved his work and enjoyed working with his fellow employees. He was also employed by EDS. Paul and Joann loved to travel and were able to see much of the world, but Paul had a special love for God’s chosen land, Israel, and he loved to share it with others. Paul and Joann led 7 study trips for over 250 people to Israel, Jordan, Greece, and Turkey. Paul was a student of biblical prophecy and loved the Lord. His well-marked Bible was always by his chair. His favorite scripture verse was Psalm 122:6, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, may those who love you be secure”. Paul leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Joann Sides, his son, James Mark Sides of Little Elm, Texas, his daughter, Paula Ann Leikert, son-in-law, John Leikert of Plano, Texas and his sister, Leta Joyce Gunn of Hewitt, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
