Robert E. (Bobby) Walker

Robert E. (Bobby) Walker died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 15, 1938, to Wilson Elvin Walker and Georgia Pace, where he grew up and lived in Port Arthur, TX most of his life. He moved to Hideaway Lake, TX for the last 25 years of his life. He was a loving husband, devoted father, adoring grandfather, amazing great grandfather, and friend to everyone he encountered. Most of all, he was a man of strong and abiding faith, a steadfast follower of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and His Roman Catholic Church. He was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindale, TX. He attended Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson High School, and was a four-sport letterman. He also was a graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He worked for DuPont Chemical for 38 years as a metallurgist, and retired to Hideaway Lake, TX. He was by definition an extremely hard worker. He worked multiple jobs in roofing, electrical line work, and metal inspection as he worked his way through college. While working as a metallurgist at DuPont, he found the time to coach his sons’ baseball and football teams and made a lifelong impact on many of their friends that remained for decades. He was the president of the Sertoma Club in Port Arthur, and remained active in the Kiwanis Club in Hideaway, TX. He found great joy in watching the sporting events and cheering on his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved traveling with his family and especially enjoyed summer trips to Garner State Park with his family for over 50 years. He had an engaging personality and an uncanny knack for finding something interesting to discuss with whomever he met. He was compassionate, energetic, contemplative, and evangelized for Jesus Christ by living a life of virtue. After meeting at the age of 15, he later married the love of his life Wanda Jacobs Walker, and they remained married for 68 years. After child rearing, they lived a life filled with travel, social group engagements, bridge club, and supper groups. He is survived by his wife, Wanda; his five children: Kurt Shane Walker, Shanna Kae Brown (Gary Sanderson), Kyle Shawn Walker (Madeleine), Karl Shea Walker (Lori), and Kevin Slate Walker. His 14 grandchildren: Jacob Walker (Lana), Kaleb Walker (Carly), Hannah Simonds (Kyle), Court Brown (Dallas), Corrigan Jones (Tyler), Camden Brown, Colton Brown, Kyle Walker (Brooke), Christopher Walker, Caroline Kelly Walker, Elle Walker, Erin Walker, Christian Walker and Caroline Kay Walker; His 9 great grandchildren: Truett Walker, Deacon Walker, Briggs Walker, Jane Walker, Julia Walker, Walker Brown, Bergen Brown, Kate Simonds, and Garner Simonds, as well as many more cousins, nephews, and nieces. Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Walker, Kaleb Walker, Court Brown, Christian Walker, Kyle Walker, Christopher Walker, and Colton Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Goodwin, Hank Wainwright, Johnny Massey, Alton Wolfe, Steve Smith, Billy Baugas, Jimmy Walters, and James Turpin.
