Services for Mr. Ron Wayne, age 55, of Hallsville, Texas are scheduled for 2 PM, Wednesday, August 1, 2007 in the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Rev.s Steve Stossel and Steve Bristol officiating. Burial will next to his parents, Al & Lee Gordon Wayne in the Sabine Cemetery near Lindale following services. Ron was born August 4, 1951 and broke the bonds of this earth to go to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, July 30, 2007. Ron loved his Lord and was an active member of Springhill Road First Church of God in Longview, Texas. Recently, Ron and his wife Barbara, rededicated their lives to the Lord, and loved nothing better than sharing the great love of Jesus. Ron Worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (formerly Kelly Springfield) in Tyler, Texas over 30 years. He retired November 1, 2002. Ron had been a patrol officer for the city of Whitehouse, Texas. He was actively involved in the Tyler Jaycees organization for many years, and was a member of the SOAR, Goodyear retirees club. Ron was a veteran of the United States navy during the Vietnam era. He served honorably as an ADJ-3 aboard the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy CVA-67 from 1971 to 1973. He was one of the charter members of the newly formed Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 987 in Longview, Texas. Ron loved his family greatly. Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, his wife, Barbara Ponder-Wayne. His children: Mandy Wayne of Tyler, Misty & Ralph Buckingham of Winona, Jeff & Ashley Wayne of Lindale, Kristy & Pete Walters of Hallsville, & April Alfred of Hallsville. His Brother ?In-Law & Sister-In-Law: Lloyd & Judy Aikman of Longview. His Grandchildren: Justin Lee of Van; Katie Grace Wayne of Tyler; Sarah & Caleb Buckingham of Winona; Ryan Wayne of Lindale; Amber & Kelton Walters of Hallsville; Dalton Fenton of Hallsville; Ron is also survived by several Aunts, cousins, & a host of friends. Serving as active pallbearers will be Jim Kight, Charles Kirkley, Ray Rash, Larry Brown, Charles Smith, & DeWayne Pullen; members of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 932, Tyler, Texas & Chapter 987, Longview, Texas. Honorary Pallbearers include Carl Worley, Jim Wansley, Phillip Sorrells, Clayton Shannon, Mike "Rawhide" Yates, Harold Sweat, Sherrell Brown, and his United Steel Workers Local 746, brothers & sisters. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 932, Tyler, Texas, President Robbie Robertson, and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 987, Longview, Texas. President, William "Perk" Perkins, and the members of both Vietnam Veterans of America Chapters. Special Thanks to our friends, Jim & Darcie Kight, and all who offered prayers and expressions of concern during Ron's Illness. Family will receive friends from 6PM to 8PM, Tuesday at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale.
