Graveside services for “Rose Ann” McClain, 91, Hideaway, Texas, will be Saturday, May 20th at 1:00 PM in the Chandler Memorial Cemetery in Chandler. She passed away peacefully May 16th 2023 at home with her children beside her. Rose Ann the fourth of five children, was born September 24, 1931 in Chandler, Tx., to the late Winton and Willie Ellis. She attended Tyler Junior College and The University of North Texas, receiving a degree in Elementary Education. While she attended TJC she was an Apache Belle the second year of the Apache Belles. She was an elementary school teacher in Leverett's Chapel, Texas for 18 years, from 1952 to 1970. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, and steadfast friend to all who knew her and was full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Rose Ann was at heart the quintessential “old soul” who remained measured in speech and reserved in nature. For her being calm appeared to come easy, in spite of underneath it all having the worries of any mom with kids coming and going. Her gentle nature made her a natural with young kids and animals - who better to sense one’s true nature? In her later years, she kept to herself and was content with family drop-ins and her many memories and funny stories from years of living in Texas. For Rose Ann, laying down her life meant not being a burden to others and having a deep sense of peace while surviving entirely on her own into her 90s. Rose Ann is survived by her son John McClain (and wife Nita) of Hideaway, daughter Laura McClain Burton (and husband Mark) of Tyler, grandchildren Shane, Patrick (and wife Hope) & Cassidy McClain of Hideaway, Wade (and fiance’ Rachel Wright), Emma & Anna Burton of Tyler, nieces Patti Marek of Dallas and Ann Spruiell of Canton, nephew James Ellis of New Braunfels, nieces Kim Paloma of Chandler, Sabrina Hughes of Forney, and Jamie VanWinkle of Yantis. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00AM on Saturday, May 20th at Caudle-Rutledge funeral home.
