Tank Davis

A Celebration of Life for Tank Davis, 63, of Lindale, Texas, is scheduled for 6:30 pm Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas with visitation beginning at 5 to 6:30pm. Milo Choate, Mike Workman, Kolt Casey and Jay Palmer, with others, will be officiating his service. Tank came into this world on December 20, 1960, in Carthage, Texas. He was born Billy J Davis Jr to Linda Davis and the late Billy Davis, Sr. At age two, he officially became known to all as TANK, a nickname given to him by his daddy. Tank attended Duncanville High School, graduated in 1979. Tank went onto play baseball at Panola Jr College, where his Uncle Jackie Davis was the Athletic Director and where his grandparents resided. Tank finished on scholarship at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Tank received many prestigious honors and awards throughout high school and college years. In 2016, Tank was inducted into the Duncanville Sports Hall of Fame for his unbelievable baseball career and ability. Tank still holds many records at DHS in baseball. Tank is the Home run King. After college, he went to work for LTV and then later went to work as a GM for CICi’s Pizza and Chicken Express with his life long friend, Milo Choate. Tank went to work at TXM, in Lindale Texas in 2018 and retired in May of 2024. Tank leaves behind his wife, Brenda Davis, his six children: Kyle Grady and wife, Tabitha of Forney, Texas, Brad Davis and wife, Tamara of Dallas, Texas, Kristi Grady Zapata of Dallas, Texas, Lexi Casey and husband, Kolt Casey of Tyler, Texas, Monica Davis of Arlington, Texas, Kaci Russell and husband, Lance of Flagstaff, Arizona. Tank also leaves behind his mother, Linda Davis of Lindale Texas and his mother in-law, Carollyn Dunn of Duncanville, Texas. He also leaves behind 13 precious and talented grandchildren. Tank is preceded in death by his daddy, Billy J Davis, Sr., his sister, Darlene Davis,Son in-law, Alex Zapata. Tank loved his family, his mother and he adored his children and his wife. He loved people, loved sports, loved his white Labrador, Tripp, and enjoyed cooking on his BBQ pit. Tank loved to laugh, tell jokes, aggravate people, rest in his recliner, mow his lawn and spend time with his family. Tank loved to listen to music and he could sing, but could not hum to save his life. Tank gave much of his time to coaching his sons, and other young men, in baseball and loved every minute. Tank could tell stories and break himself up while doing so. And every story he told, was embellished to perfection. Tank was a very kind hearted man that would give you the shirt off his back. Tank gave and never asked for a thing in return; he was generous. He was the kind of man that you just genuinely liked the minute you met him. Tank Davis will be missed by many.
