Wanda Jean Garner

Funeral services for Wanda Jean Garner, age 77, of Lindale, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 20, 2014 in the Lindale First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Buck and Rev. Ronnie Stribble officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery near Van, Texas with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale, Texas. Mrs. Garner died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Brownsboro, Texas on October 11, 1936 to the late Joe and Myra Smith Palmer Maxwell and attended Lindale Schools briefly and graduated from Forney High School in 1954. She had been employed as a legal secretary in Dallas, Texas area for 20 years, then served as City Secretary for the City of DeSoto, Texas for 19 ½ years retiring in 1997 before returning to live in Lindale area in 1999. She was an active member of the Lindale First Baptist Church and numerous civic organizations while in the Dallas area. Mrs. Garner was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Maxwell; mother, Myra Smith Palmer and grandson, Bradley Reeves. Mrs. Garner is survived by her husband, Jerry M. Garner of Lindale; sister, Anita Hagin and husband, J. C. of Tennessee Colony; brothers, Jim Palmer of Cayuga and Kelly Maxwell and wife, Vivian of Bedford; 3 daughters, Brenda Jones and husband, Rodney of Lindale, Laura Reeves and husband, Terry of Lindale and Sherry boles of Linden; 7 grandchildren, Jerrod Dorsey of Lindale, Jennifer Tommervik and husband, Jamie of Dallas, Matthew Dorsey of Lindale, Melissa Pruitt and husband, Jacob of Lindale, Cody Boles and wife, Cayli of Hughes Springs, Casey Boles of Linden and Cheyenne Lummus and husband, Clint of Queen City; 5 great grandchildren, Chance Dorsey, Madysen Tommervik, Emmalyn Pruitt, Cade Boles, Cash Boles and Cassidy Boles and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Michael, Casey, Teddy, Tim, Ryan and Greg Hernandez. The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale.
