Barbara Lou Pitner

Funeral services for Barbara Lou Pitner, age 88, of Galveston and formerly of Lindale, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale with Rev. McQueen and Pastor Kim Pitner officiating. Interment will follow in the Lindale City Cemetery with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. Barbara died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in a Nassau Bay, Texas hospital. She was born April 23, 1930 in Denton, Texas to the late Louis and Ovella (Newland) Groening. Barbara had previously owned and operated Pitner Realty in Tyler, Texas and had been a member of the Green Acres Baptist Church where she taught in the “Singles Class”. She was a big fan of TV ministry, especially after she was unable to attend church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Pitner; son, Johnny Michael Jeter, Sr.; brothers, Larry Groening and Emory Groening; and sisters, Jennie Groening Brown and Mary Lynn Stanaland; and step-son, Kevin Pitner. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Sharon Jeanine Brown of Galveston, Texas; brother & sister-in-law, Jerry and Laurie Groening of Cumby, Texas; daughter-in-law, Pat Jeter of Ponder, Texas; grandchildren, Johnny Michael Jeter, Jr. of Ponder, Texas, Jay Mitchell Jeter and wife, JoAnne of Denton, Texas, Jarrod Mack Jeter and wife, Necole of Denton, Texas, David Brown and wife, Alisha of Lindale, Texas and Lance Brown and wife, Allyson of Tyler, Texas; 7 great grandchildren with one on the way; 2 great great grandchildren; step-children, Kim and Cheryl Pitner of Midlothian, Texas, Kelly and Leisa Pitner of Grandview, Texas, Judy Pitner of Waxahachie, Texas, Karen and Keith Fonville of Bullard, Texas, Kane and Kristi Pitner of Brownsboro, Rhonda and James Daggs of Vandenberg AFB, California; step-grandchildren, Josh Pitner and fiancé, Julie Nicotra, Daniel Pitner, Haley McCormick and husband, Mike, Jennifer Fontaine and husband, Stephen, Kayla Fonville, Justin Pitner, Kyle Gee and wife, Laura, Amber Smith and husband, Jason, and Blake Gee; and step-great grandchildren, Rosie, Raela, Bailey, Haiden, Kason, Ashlyn, Brantley, Riley, Kinsley. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Mike Jeter, Jay Jeter, Jarod Jeter, David Brown, Lance Brown and great-grandson, Brett Brown. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service on Saturday at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
