Funeral services for Carol Lynn Herring Johnson, age 76, of Mt. Sylvan, Texas are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 22, 2021, at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas, with Rev. Bruce Rudd officiating. Private family burial will be held at the Mt. Sylvan Cemetery with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. Carol was born in Tyler, Texas, on January 3, 1945, to the late Atwell Otto and Grace (McArthur) Herring, and passed on to be with her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2021. Carol had worked prior for Lindale Independent School District for many years before retiring to be a homemaker and was a member of the Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Gwendolyn Nell Woodward and Barbara Ann Shockley. Carol is survived by her husband of 58 years, G. Kent Johnson of Mt. Sylvan, Texas; 2 sons & daughter-in-law, Cary Johnson of Cache, Oklahoma, and Keith and Shannon Johnson of Oak Hill, Virginia (formerly of Mt. Sylvan, Texas); 5 grandchildren, Cara Johnson of Lindale, Texas; Cayti Blair and husband Stefan of Loveland, Colorado; Courtney Johnson of Loveland, Colorado; Austin Johnson of Redding, California; and Emily Johnson of Oak Hill, Virginia; 2 great-grandchildren, Aspen Blair and Roman Blair; 4 nephews, Michael Woodward and wife Brenda of Brownsboro, Texas; James David Shockley and wife Peggy of Ben Wheeler, Texas; Bobby Shockley and wife Teresa of Whitehouse, Texas; and Mark Woodward and wife Leslie of New Chapel Hill, Texas; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was also loved and cherished by her husband’s siblings: Shirley Shumake and husband Nick of Tyler, Texas; Joel Johnson and wife Louise of Longview, Texas; Rita Smith and husband Ed of Flint, Texas; and Marsha Holland and husband John of Tyler, Texas. Carol loved children and her many pets and was known as Mamaw to numerous foster grandchildren, especially Devan Patrick and wife Megan of Charlotte, North Carolina; Dylan Patrick and wife Kimberly of Tyler; Carissa Gandhi and husband Sagar of McKinney, Texas; Jillian Gaines of Rockwall, Texas; and Jenna Wallis and husband Brian of Lindale, Texas. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be James David Shockley, Bobby Shockley, Michael Woodward, Mark Woodward, Connie Hicks, Glen Patrick, Dylan Patrick, Rexford Neely, and James Perkins. The family will receive friends 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. prior to the service Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
