Charles "Charley" William Carmichael

Memorial services for Charles “Charley” William Carmichael, age 82 of Lindale, Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Sand Flat Missionary Baptist Church in Grand Saline, Texas with Bro. Loyd Nations and Bro. Phillip Waddell officiating. Charley passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 17, 2020 in Kerens, Texas. He was born February 25, 1937 in Mercer, Pennsylvania to the late Lamonte and Genoris Elizabeth (Lacaze) Carmichael. Charley received his G.E.D. while serving in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He also served in Germany in the 103rd Armored Division. As a civilian he worked as a over the road truckdriver and heavy equipment operator. He also worked in the car business, bought out storage buildings, and had a resale shop. Charley enjoyed buying and selling, as he always found ways to make a dollar. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol Carmichael of Lindale, Texas; sons, Carl and Rodney Carmichael of Ohio; daughter, Candy Kay Burkhamer and husband, Ron of Ohio; step-daughters, Paulette Alderman and husband, Doug of Iowa, Heather Messina and husband, Joseph of Virginia, and Shelly Schiappa and husband, John of Virginia; 2 brothers; 1 sister; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of East Texas or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
