Services for Rev. James Britton “Pete” Rutledge, age 88, of Lindale Club Lake, are scheduled for 2:30 PM on Sunday, October 28, 2012 in the Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Neely & Rev. Bruce Rudd officiating. Interment will follow in the Lindale City Cemetery under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale. James went to be with his Lord & Savior on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the Hospice Homeplace in Tyler. He was born on January 13, 1924 in Blue Ridge, Texas, the second child of nine to Robert Eber & Thelma Era Britton Rutledge. He grew up in Benjamin, Texas where he graduated High School and was a veteran of WWII where he served in the US Army Air Force. In 1956 he was ordained to preach & was licensed in 1957 and moved to Ft. Worth where he graduated from the Southwestern Theological Seminary. While at the seminary, he was a barber & pastored the Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Boswell, Oklahoma and the Trinity Baptist Church in Hugo, Oklahoma. Upon graduation, he pastored the Springlake Baptist Church in Paris followed by pastorates at the Flint Avenue Baptist Church in Lubbock, First Baptist Church in Lindale, First Baptist Church in Decatur, Dixie Baptist Church in Tyler, Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church in Mt. Sylvan, & the Dover Baptist Church in Carroll. Also after retiring he became the interim pastor for many other churches in the East Texas area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. & Thelma Rutledge, & by 2 Sisters, Latrice Harper & Jane Draper. Survived by: Wife of 69 years, Mrs. Jimmie Lou Rutledge Daughter: Marilynn Eledge Son & Daughter-In-Law: C. James & Janet Rutledge Grandchildren: Craig Adams & wife Jeanna, Allison Rutledge, & Cory Paul Rutledge & wife, Cassie Great Grandchildren: Ethan, Mason, Madison, & Mackenzie Adams 2 Brothers: Robert E. Jr. “Bobby” Rutledge & wife Billie, & Marion B. “Buzz” Rutledge & wife, Laverne 4 Sisters: Glenda Martin, Betty Meek & husband, Henry, Sallye McCarty, & Nancy Lou Smith & husband, Holice Numerous Nieces & Nephews Pallbearers will be Craig Adams, Cory Paul Rutledge, Charles C.
