Funeral services for James William “J.W.” Smith Sr. age 80 of Lindale, Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale, Texas with Bro. Jimmy Smith officiating. A private interment will follow at Lindale City Cemetery. J.W. passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 in Tyler, Texas. He was born January 11, 1940 in Lexington, Texas to the late, James William and Mabel Claire (Eller) Smith. J.W. served his country in the United States Navy and has lived in Lindale for the last 37 years. He worked throughout his life as a truck driver and worked most of his career with KLLM Transport Services. J.W. was a member of the Tyler Amateur Radio Club, and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, the National Hunters Association, the National Coon Hunters Association, and the American Legion Post #15 in Lindale. He is preceded in death by 1 brother and 4 sisters. J.W. is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gloria Delores Smith of Lindale, Texas; children, Kimmy Marks of Montgomery City, Missouri, Sheryl Adams of Olancha, California, Mable Jane Stone and husband, Ron of Phoenix, Arizona, James Smith Jr. and wife, Christine of Roanoke, Virginia, Robin Deal of North Carolina, Casey Smith and wife, Rosa of Lindale, Texas, Kristy Reeves and husband, Kristoffer of Lindale, Texas, and Theron Smith and wife, Alisa of Lindale, Texas; numerous grand and great grandchildren; 4 nephews, Kenneth Cummings, Johnny Cummings, Jim Cummings, and Bob Cummings, all from Rison, Arkansas; 3 nieces, and many other loving family members and friends. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
