Steve Ray Davis

A memorial service for Mr. Steve Ray Davis, age 65 of Lindale, Texas, is scheduled for 10:30 AM Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas with Pastor Lewis Pollard and Pastor Sam Crosby officiating. Steve passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas. He was born in Gatesville, Texas on May 10, 1956 to the late Wilbur Troy “Bub” and Juanita Pearl “Nita” Boyd Davis. Steve worked for Gatesville ISD for 20 years and retired as the Transportation Director in 2017. After retiring, Steve and Lori moved to Lindale, Texas where they became members of Grace Community Church and served the congregation in a variety of ways. Steve was a man of strong faith which was continuously cultivated by his close friends and brothers in Christ everyday under the “lunch tree” in Gatesville and then again with the Band of Brothers in Lindale. He used his mechanical skills to serve his family, friends, and community members both in Gatesville and Lindale. Steve found joy in the outdoors observing God’s creation from the seat of a tractor or from his fishing boat or deer stand. He spent countless years at the ballpark coaching his kid’s little league teams and then cheering on his grandkids. Steve was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Mitchell Culp. He is survived by his wife, Lori Davis of Lindale, Texas; son Christopher Davis and wife, Lauren of Lindale, Texas; daughters, Melissa Edwards and husband, Roderick of Gatesville, Texas; Jamie Jackson and husband, Wil of Gatesville, Texas; Rachel Johnson and husband, Dylan of Lindale, Texas; sisters, Jan Crosby and husband, Sam of San Saba, Texas; Teresa Culp of Gatesville, Texas; 11 grandchildren, K. J. Haywood, Jozy Jackson, Kaleigh Haywood, Zayden Jackson, Kayden Mayes, Jaxon Davis, Jack Johnson, Dani Johnson, Ryan Davis, Blakely Davis, and Maggie Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas.
