Frances Fleming Stevens

Frances Fleming Stevens of Liberty City was born March 20, 1913 in Lindale, Texas to Archie & Neva Crone Fleming. She entered her home in Heaven, July 25, 2007 in a Longview Hospital after a lengthy illness to be with her parents, Brothers, an infant boy, Erman "Buddy", Walter "Judge", Archie Wilson, Joe, & A.C. Jr. "Tooke", Sisters: Juanita Sandlin, Dorothy Fleming, Betty Stevens, & Martha Williams. Frances grew up in a farming community in Smith County named Sabine, because of its proximity to the Sabine River, north of Lindale on lands farmed for generations by the Crone & Fleming Families. Her Grandfather, Joseph N. Crone provided the land for a school and the Methodist Church as well as a cemetery, with her Mother later donating additional land to extend the Cemetery. She attended the school through the ninth grade and then transferred to Lindale High School. She was a devoted Christian and a member of the Sabine Methodist Church serving as Church Secretary and Sunday School teacher until it consolidated with the First United Methodist Church in Lindale, where she was still a member. She was a 50 year plus member of the Lindale Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. As a younger woman she was active in various community and church organizations. In 1998 due to health issues she moved to Liberty City to live with her daughter. She was retired from the Colonial Nursing Home in Lindale and enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes, reading, growing flowers, and being with her family. Survivors include her Daughter and Son-In-Law: Dorothy & John M. Bryan of Liberty City; Son & Daughter-In-Law: Jessie Randolph & Ruby Stevens of Lindale. Grandchildren: Carissa Purcell, Courtney & Jody Clements, Jessie D. & Rachel Stevens, Jennifer & Shane Scoggins, John & Shannon Stevens, & Joshua Stevens. Great Grandchildren: Addison Purcell, Sam Clements, Jacob Stevens, Annah & Emmah Stevens, Chyanne, Kaylee Belle, Zane, Blaine, & Seth Scoggins, Kaleb Drew, Tristan, Bailey, Brennon, & Brodie Clements. Sisters-In-Law: Mary Fleming, Martha Fleming, Virginia Fleming, Brother-In-Law: L.P. Sandlin, and numerous Nieces & Nephews. Funeral Services are scheduled for 3PM, Sunday, July 29, 2007 in the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Melinda Fleming & Bro. Bobby McClenny officiating. Interment will follow in the Sabine Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bud Praytor, Arliss Mallory, LeRoy Mallory, Lloyd Mallory, John Stevens, Jessie Stevens, Jimmy Purcell, & Jody Clements. Honorary Pallbearers: Joshua Stevens, Jacob Stevens, Sam Clements, & Wayne Scoggins. Family will receive friends from 6PM to 8PM Saturday evening at the Funeral Home.
