Jim Hinna

Services for James Morgan Hinna are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the New Harmony Baptist Church with Bro. Robbie Caldwell officiating. Services will be under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home. James Morgan Hinna, age 70, of Hideaway, Texas, passed into the loving hands of his Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, on the morning of July 13, 2026. Jim, his wife, Liz, and their daughter, Morgan, called Hideaway home for more than 25 years. Jim was a faithful servant of the Lord, always noticing the needs of those around him and quietly stepping in to help. He and his family were longtime members of First Baptist Church of Lindale, where they faithfully served as leaders and teachers throughout the children’s ministry. The family later joined New Harmony Baptist Church, where Jim used the gift of his skilled hands to serve through the Christ Union Group. He also found great joy in the Foundation Sunday School Class and continued serving in the children’s ministry. Throughout the many journeys their family faced over the years, Jim deeply felt the love, prayers, and encouragement of his church family and friends. His faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. He accepted Christ and was baptized alongside his daughter, Morgan, when she was just five years old—a memory they both treasured. Jim lived by a simple but unwavering principle: “Put God first, your wife second, your children next, and then others. If you get that out of order, you’ll create chaos.” He didn’t just say those words—he lived them every day. He was the patriarch of his family, a devoted husband, a loving father, and an incredibly proud grandfather. He loved the wonderful community of Hideaway, his devoted church family at New Harmony Baptist Church, spending time with his grandchildren, trimming trees, building and fixing things, and tackling just about any mechanical project that came his way. Jim enjoyed a distinguished 25-year career with Southwest Airlines, where he embraced the company’s unique culture of teamwork and servant leadership. Beginning his career on the Ramp, he worked his way into senior management, building lifelong friendships along the way. It was at Southwest that he met Liz, the love of his life. Together, they were immensely proud to watch their only daughter, Morgan, build her own successful career with Southwest Airlines, where she, too, found lifelong friendships and experienced a career that was far more than a paycheck. For the past 25 years, Jim was co-owner of two UPS Store locations in Tyler. He considered that chapter another great blessing, built on meaningful relationships with employees, loyal customers, and a commitment to serving others well. Jim loved to cruise and travel—perhaps the only thing he wished he had done even more. Whether exploring new places, spending time with family, serving his church, or lending a helping hand, he approached life with humility, generosity, and steadfast faith. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Rae Russell; his brother, Paul Roy Hinna; and his nephew, Joseph Hinna. He is survived by his beloved wife, Liz Hinna; his daughter, Morgan Dorsett, and her husband, Jon Dorsett; his cherished grandchildren, Gray Dorsett and Elle Dorsett; his father, Paul Hinna; his sister, Marta Hinna; his brother, Robert Hinna; his nephews, Stephen Jacobs, Zackary Jacobs, and Noah Hinna; and many other beloved siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Jim’s greatest legacy was not found in the careers he built, the businesses he owned, or the projects he completed—it was found in the unwavering faith he lived, the family he fiercely loved, and the countless lives he quietly impacted through kindness, service, and unwavering devotion to Christ. His family rejoices in knowing that today he is whole, healed, and home with his Savior.
