Joye Kathleen Morris

Joye Kathleen Morris was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on February 27, 2025. The daughter of Emanuel and Minnie Waters, Joye was born on July 26, 1931, in the community of Carroll, Texas. Joye married Math Morris and together they shared over fifty years of marriage. The Morrises made their home in the Tyler, Texas area and in Texarkana, Texas. Joye was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, her sisters Nathalia Maine and Laverne Lukacs, and daughter-in-law Medley Morris. She is survived by sons Mike Morris and wife Doris and Don Morris and Vicki Melde, and daughter Cheryl Gray and husband Alan. She and Math were blessed with grandchildren Brandy Debenport and husband Dan, Hank Morris and wife Jessie, Kylee Jeffers and husband Chad, Nathan Morris, and Graham Morris and wife Melissa, as well as ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Joye also had a special relationship with many of her cousins and was thrilled that Daisy and Terry Don and wife Joan attended her 90th birthday celebration. Family and her faith were the center of Joye’s life. She was a life-long member of Dover Baptist Church in Carroll, Texas – a church her father built with his own skilled hands. Joye and Math were the first couple to be married in the church. Joye was a loving and exceptional wife, mother, and beloved “Mimi” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was embraced as a “second Mom” to all of her children’s friends and willingly served as their “chauffeur” on dozens of occasions. Joye supported the multitude of her children’s outside activities such as dance and sports and was recognized for her dedication to their schools as a lifetime member of PTA. A kind and humble woman, Joye was always concerned about the well-being of those around her much more than herself. She was “a true Southern Momma” who loved working in her yard and having beautiful flowers. The consummate Texas Rangers baseball fan, Joye loved watching games with her cousin Dorothy as they discussed the play-by-play by telephone. The last television program she watched was when great grandson John made it possible for her to watch the Rangers game at spring training. Joye will be remembered for her fierce love, her funny sense of humor, and her keen mind to the end of her earthly days. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. Arrangements are under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home – 206 West South Street, Lindale, Texas, with the service to follow at 12:00 Noon. also at the funeral home.
