CW4 Matthew Blake Seiber Matthew Blake Seiber, age 39, of Lindale, Texas passed away June 22, 2023, in Junction City, Kansas. A Memorial Service with full Military Honors will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Vanderbilt Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. Pastor Rhea James will be officiating. Matthew was born December 29, 1983, in Tyler, Texas. He graduated from Lindale High School in 2002. Matthew was a member of the Vanderbilt Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. He loved spending time with his family and being outdoors. Matthew enjoyed paddle boarding with his wife and traveling to different national parks. He also had a love of hiking and being in the mountains and going off road in the jeep. He found great joy working on and riding his motorcycle. CW4 Matthew Blake Seiber enlisted in the United States Army as a crew chief in 2006 and was deployed to Iraq in 2008 for 12 months. With his aviation experiences he decided to commission as a Warrant Officer in 2010 in the Army Aviation Branch. Upon completion of Warrant Officer Candidate School, Warrant Officer Basic Course, and flight school, he quickly achieved the well sought after status of Pilot in Command in 2011 while assigned to 2-1 General Support Aviation Battalion (2-1 GSAB) at Fort Riley, KS. While assigned to the 2-1 GSAB, CW4 Seiber served as the Battalion Safety Officer before moving down to the company level to be Charlie Company’s 2-1 TACOPS Officer in 2014. He continued to deploy forward with 2-1 GSAB’s Charlie Med Company in Afghanistan for 9 months. In 2017 CW4 Seiber moved to Fort Campbell, KY where he again assumed duties as a company grade TACOPS Officer for Charlie Company, 6-101 General Support Aviation Battalion (6-101 GSAB). He again deployed to Afghanistan with the 6-101 GSAB for 14 months. By 2019, CW4 Seiber had become the 6-101 Battalion Air Mission Survivability Officer. He took his experience and skillsets to Fort Hood, TX in 2021 to again take up the Battalion Air Mission Survivability Officer for 3-227 Assault Helicopter Battalion (3-227 AHB). With the 3-227 AHB, CW4 Seiber experienced his first rotation to EUCOM, travelling to Romania and flying in multiple different countries throughout Europe. Upon redeploying, CW4 Seiber permanently changed his duty station back to Fort Riley, KS where he would finish his career. He assumed the 3-1 Assault Helicopter Battalion Aviation Mission Survivability Officer (AMSO) role where his character and experiences enabled him to excel. Among his role as the Battalion AMSO, CW4 Seiber far exceeded the standard as an Air Mission Commander and Pilot in Command in the battalion. He was the Battalion Commander’s primary advisor for anything related to Aviation Mission Survivability, Aircraft Survivability Equipment, enemy threats, capabilities, and limitations that would ensure the success of the unit. CW4 Seiber’s awards and decorations include the Air Medal (3), Army Commendation Medal (4), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2), Iraq Campaign Medal (2), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medal (2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3), Certificate of Achievement (2), Expert Army Aviator Badge, and the Senior Aircrew Member Badge. He has a combined total of 1,451.3 rotary wing flight hours, and 1,179.6 of those hours amongst the UH-60 Blackhawk variants. Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Brian Seiber and niece, Grace Jeanes. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Ashley Jan Seiber; daughter, Sophia Marie; son, Harrison Matthew; mother, Rebekah Jane Callan of Mineola, Texas; sister, Stacy Jeanes, and husband, Shawn of Tyler, Texas; brother, George Sinopoli of Dallas, Texas.
