Melva Kay Knox

Melva Kay Knox (née Toquothty), age 82, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, in Hideaway, Texas. Born on July 23, 1943, in Walters, Oklahoma, she lived a life marked by compassion, service, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Melva is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Sam Knox; her daughter Connie Barnes and son-in-law Randy; her granddaughter Sarah Bohannon and her husband Andrew, and their son Robbie; her step-granddaughter Meredith Humphreys and her husband Bodee, who are expecting a baby boy, Beau, in the spring; her sister Danielle Devault and brother-in-law Michael Devault; as well as other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Toquothty, as well as her brothers Dennis, Levern, Lee, Arnold, and Delbert Toquothty and one sister, Roberta. One of the professions Melva was most proud of was her time working in Human Resources at NorthPark National Bank. It was there that she formed lasting friendships, many of which she maintained throughout her life. Melva found deep fulfillment in caring for others and offering support wherever it was needed. A devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church, she generously gave her time through volunteer work at the church, local food pantry, and Lindale Nursing Home. Her faith and commitment to service were cornerstones of her daily life. In recent years, Melva became deeply involved with the Champagne House in Lindale, a group home dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her passion for this mission was evident through her tireless efforts to raise funds and awareness for the organization. Her legacy of kindness and advocacy will continue through the lives she touched there. Melva’s warmth, generosity, and quiet strength left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She consistently put others before herself and lived with grace, compassion, and love. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Melva’s memory to Champagne House, 303 Mount Sylvan Street, Lindale, TX 75771. A Rosary will be held on January 9, 2026, at 6:00 PM, with visitation following from 6:30–8:00 PM at Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty, 206 W. South St., Lindale, TX. A Memorial Mass will be held on January 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 16314 FM 849, Lindale, TX.
