Sue Hulsey

On Thursday, February 16, 2007, Jimmye Sue "Big Mother" Hulsey met her savior at Hospice of East Texas. The celebration of her life will be held on Monday, February 20, 2007, at 10:30 A.M. at Caudle Rutledge Funeral Home, Lindale, with Pastor Craig Little of Antioch Baptist Church and Dr. Leslie Bartley officiating. Burial will follow at Sand Flat Cemetery. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on November 26, 1942, to the late James Richard and Hattie Mae Rainwater Crank. She moved to Tyler as and infant and was raised as an only child. She has been a long time member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was passionate about her faith and the Lord. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Earl W. Hulsey, whom she shared a wonderful marriage of 37 years with. She is also preceded in death by her Son, Jerry D. Oxford. Together, Sue and Earl raised their family in Sand Flat. She retired from the Cotton Belt Railroad after 35 years of employment. She was passionate about interior designing and was a Home Interior Distributor for many years. She greatly enjoyed working in her flower beds and had a green thumb when it came to gardening. Sue's hobbies included traveling with her husband on long camping trips to many places, which include Kentucky, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Big Mother will be remembered and missed deeply by the lives she touched as a loving, strong, and kind-hearted woman who enjoyed her life to the fullest and found great joy in simple pleasures. Survivors include Daughters and Sons-in-law; Donna & Tim Williams of Chandler and Gay & Danny Craig of Tyler; Grandchildren, Christopher Oxford of San Diego, Calli and Jared Williams of Tyler, Laura Eckeberger and Dallas Allmon of Nacogdoches, Justin Eckeberger of San Diego, Emily Nix of Chandler; and Great-Grandchildren, Cornelia Allmon of Nacogdoches, and Gavyn Williams of Tyler; Brothers and sisters-in-law; Charlene and Audrey Robinson, Olen Ray and Patsy Hulsey, Charles Henry Hulsey, Frances and Dr. Leslie Bartley, Glenda and Charles Ray Tate, Tennie Faye Hulsey and Peggy Hulsey. Pallbearers are Christopher Oxford, Jared Williams, Dallas Allmon, and Chris Pedon. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale. The family requests that all contributions be made to Hospice of East Texas.
