Winnie Granberry Vickers

Funeral services for Winnie Granberry Vickers, age 91, of Winona, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas with Family officiating. Interment will follow in Center Cemetery with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home. Winnie died Friday, May 10, 2019 in a Tyler hospice center. She was born to the late George Fowler and Viola (Blalock) Granberry in Sand Flat Community near Lindale, Texas and was formerly of Liberty Hill, Texas before moving to Winona in the early 1970’s. She had previously worked as a painter’s assistant for 17 years in Winona, Texas and was a member of Soroptimist International. Winnie was very active in planning and cooking for all family get-togethers and was a wonderful caregiver to her parents and mother-in-law. Winnie loved flowers, digging in the dirt, reading and traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. J. “Blackie” Vickers; twin daughters, Joyce and Loyce Vickers; son, James Michael Vickers; brothers, George P. Granberry, Henry Granberry and Glenn Granberry; and sisters, Lillian Vickers, Marie Morris and Marian Steich. Winnie is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Reitta & Robert Pharis of Winona, Texas and Carolyn Patton of Brenham, Texas; sisters, Leeoma Lindsey of Temple, Texas and Anna Lois Wilbourn of Willis Point, Texas; brothers & sisters-in-law, Carl & Lura Granberry of Winona, Texas and Doug & Barbara Granberry of Ft. Worth, Texas; daughter-in-law, Nancy Vickers of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Terry Holmes of Bandera, Texas, Megan Corke of Goodyear, Arizona, Corey Vickers of Houston, Texas, Aaron Vickers of Houston, Texas, Scott Holmes of Mansfield, Texas, Christian Pharis of Crosby, Texas, Ryan Vickers of Houston, Texas, Bree Smith of Winona, Texas, Caleigh Pharis of Winona, and Lauren Anderson of Winona; 23 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Grandsons, Terry Holmes, Corey Vickers, Scott Holmes, Aaron Vickers, Ryan Vickers, Christian Pharis, Jonathan Corke and Ethan Holmes. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Winona/RA’s & GA’s Camp Scholarship Fund.
